Since 1992, GSDC successfully constructed three senior housing developments that offer 248 affordable apartments to the community's seniors. The independent-living developments are professionally serviced by GSDC, and the supportive living facility by Blair Minton & Associates, to provide high quality rental opportunities for income-qualified seniors. GSDC oversees the property management of all three buildings.

Independent Living Apartments for Seniors

GSDC's apartments offer fantastic housing options to seniors wishing to live on Chicago's southwest side. Residents enjoy weekly grocery shopping trips, exercise classes, and scheduled activities such as arts and crafts and cultural field trips. GSDC's senior apartments are available for persons 62 years of age and older with an annual income that meets eligibility guidelines.

Supportive Living Apartments for Seniors

Churchview Supportive Living Apartments offer seniors the assistant they need to continue living independently. Providing housekeeping services, three meals a day, medicine reminders, and personal assistance as needed, these supportive living apartments are an affordable alternative for seniors who wish to live in their own apartment but need some assistance to do so.

GSDC's supportive living apartments are available for persons 65 years of age and older who pass a determination of needs assessment and have an annual income that meets eligibility guidelines.

Home Repair for Accessible and Independent Living (H-RAIL)

The H-RAIL program helps eligible homeowners 60 years of age and older with minor home repairs, such as improving weatherization, addressing health and safety issues, or increasing security. GSDC staff will perform minor repairs and make accessibility modifications for eligible seniors.

Services through the HRAIL program are available to residents of the 13th, 14th, 15th, 18th, 23rd Wards.
