Mission Statement

Greater Southwest Development Corporation is organized to generate residential, institutional, commercial and industrial revitalization that creates local benefits resulting in an improved quality of life for Southwest Chicagoans. To accomplish this purpose the Corporation may:

• Provide assistance, create strategies and organize resources to:
  • Increase the quality of local homeownership and residential tenancy;
  • Increase the viability of local businesses and business investment;
  • Increase economic opportunities for Southwest Chicagoans.
• Market the community to homebuyers, investors, and businesses;
• Assume the role of a real estate developer, joint venture partner, real estate syndicator, landlord, or tenant;
• Provide a unity base to engage the community's institutions and organizations to collaborate to accomplish these purposes;
• Organize and collaborate with others to thwart the negative forces which result in victimization and community deterioration;
• Maintain a staff and leadership compliment which possesses the broad array of skills and high degree of competency necessary to accomplish these goals;
• Engage in any and all legal acts necessary, incidental and convenient to the aforesaid purposes;
• Exercise any and all powers as provided by the Illinois Not For Profit Statutes and all other legal powers
