Arcee's.jpgGreater Southwest Development Corporation (GSDC), working in concert with the Mayor's Office, the Local Initiatives Support Corporation Chicago (LISC), and community partners across the south and southwest side, coordinated the 2008 Summer Youth Internship Program, connecting well over 100 local youth with jobs and life-skills training. GSDC served as the lead coordinating organization on the southwest sides, responsible not only for finding over 100 job placements but also for organizing weekly training sessions and managing program logistics. Youth accepted into the program, ranging in age from 14 to 21, were identified through the collective efforts of the Southwest Organizing Project (SWOP), the Inner-City Muslim Action Network (IMAN), the Southwest Youth Collaborative (SWYC), the Mayor's Office, and a number of city faith-based organizations.
